The Buena Vista Orchestra at McAllen Performing Arts Center

Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos (famed Cuban trombonist, composer, and arranger) reunites with former members of the Buena Vista Social Club (BVSC) to bring back the tracks that were considered to be a musical revolution of the 90s! Through the production of the Buena Vista Orchestra, which features the critically-acclaimed songs of the BVSC’s 1997 album, the orchestra concert elevates the instrumentals, cuts, and originals with their live renditions that are just as vibrant.

The show is composed of a nine-piece orchestra that transports you straight back to the 1950s and its vibe with a blend of Cuban, Afro-Cuban, and Carribean sound. Despite the concert being performed and played in Spanish, audiences are reintroduced to the roots and core of what music should be through masterful arrangements that evoke physical feeling.

Dance to the familiar and rich Cuban rhythm as they play songs like ‘El Cuarto De Tula’, ‘Vicenta’, and ‘Chan Chan’ – impactful and climactic numbers that advanced Cuban music to the global center stage and took the world by storm. Coming from their previous tours, the orchestra is also known to change it up once in a while by also performing instrumental covers such as a rendition of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ and an awe-inspiring version of ‘Besame Mucho’.
